7075 aluminum alloy is a high-strength, heat-treatable deformed alloy developed by Alcoa in 1943. Its common tempers include 7075-T6, T651, T7351, T73, T76, T7651. The alloy resists stress corrosion cracking in the 7075-T73 temper. Al-7075 can be resistance welded, but fusion welding is generally not recommended. 7075 is available in a variety of sizes and can be used in sheet, strip, plate, rod, wire, seamless tube, forgings, profiles and extrusions.

Zn is the main alloy element in 7075. Adding magnesium to an alloy containing 3%-7.5% zinc can form MgZn2 with significant strengthening effect, making the heat treatment effect of this alloy far better than that of Al-Zn binary alloy. Increasing the zinc and magnesium content in the alloy will further increase the tensile strength, but its ability to resist stress corrosion and spalling corrosion will decrease.

The density of 7075 is low, only 2.7g/cm3, and it has high strength and hardness, with a tensile strength between 130-150MPa and an elongation between 10%-20%. It has ordinary corrosion resistance, good mechanical properties and anodic reaction.
