In the field of aviation, the performance of materials is directly related to the safety, performance and economy of aircraft. Aluminum alloys have become ideal materials for the aviation industry with their advantages of low density, high strength and good corrosion resistance.
2024 aluminium sheet belongs to the Al-Cu-Mg series aluminum alloy and is a high-strength hard aluminum. The content of copper, the main alloying element, is between 3.8% and 4.9%, which gives 2024 aluminum alloy excellent heat treatment strengthening characteristics. In the field of aviation, 2024 aluminum alloy is mainly used to manufacture aircraft skeleton parts, skins, bulkheads, wing ribs, wing beams and connecting parts. These parts bear huge loads during the flight of the aircraft, so the strength and stability of the material are extremely high.
The mechanical properties of 2024 aluminum alloy are excellent, with a tensile strength of not less than 390MPa and a conditional yield strength of at least 245MPa. This high-strength characteristic enables the aircraft structure to have sufficient load-bearing capacity while ensuring lightweight, thereby improving the fuel efficiency and flight performance of the aircraft. In addition, the 2024 aluminum alloy has moderate plasticity in the quenched and just-quenched states, which is suitable for spot welding, which facilitates the manufacture of aircraft structures. However, intergranular cracks may occur when using gas welding, which requires the selection of a suitable welding process in practical applications.
Due to the general corrosion resistance of the 2024 aluminum alloy, in order to improve its service life in complex aviation environments, it is usually anodized, painted, or covered with an aluminum layer on the surface for protection. Through these treatments, the 2024 aluminum alloy can better resist the erosion of environmental factors such as the atmosphere and rain, ensuring the safety and reliability of the aircraft structure.
7075 aluminum plate is a typical 7XXX series aluminum alloy, belonging to the Al-Zn-Mg-Cu series of super-hard aluminum. The content of its main alloying element zinc is between 5.1% and 6.1%. Adding magnesium to an alloy containing 3%-7.5% zinc can form MgZn₂ with a significant strengthening effect, making the heat treatment effect of the alloy far better than that of aluminum-zinc binary alloys.
7075 aluminum alloy occupies an important position in the aviation field with its excellent properties such as light weight, high strength, good toughness and corrosion resistance. It is widely used in key parts such as aviation fixtures and aircraft parts. For example, in the landing gear system of an aircraft, the high strength and good toughness of 7075 aluminum alloy can ensure that the landing gear maintains structural integrity when subjected to huge impact forces, ensuring the safe take-off and landing of the aircraft.
7075 aluminum alloy has high tensile strength, yield strength and hardness, especially in the quenching and artificial aging state, its strength is comparable to that of some steels. At the same time, it also has good corrosion resistance and can resist erosion from the atmosphere, seawater and other environments. In terms of processing performance, 7075 aluminum alloy can be formed by casting, forging, extrusion and other methods, and can be easily processed into parts of various complex shapes, which provides possibilities for the diversified design and manufacturing of aviation parts.
